About Amy

Amy's Bio:

Amy R. Balfour earned her master’s degree at USC’s Master of Professional Writing Program.  She also completed improv classes at the world-renowned Groundlings School of Improvisation.  She even performed original works on the Groundlings stage while enrolled in the Writer’s Workshop.  Amy’s graduate thesis was a humor book entitled Embrace Your Inner Slob: The Art and Freedom of Disorganization.  Though tragically disorganized herself, Amy managed to graduate.  NEW: Read The Slob Blog at www.embraceyourinnerslob.com.  Amy has been copywriting professionally for five years, and is currently the lead copywriter for the Moxie Girlz, BFC, Ink., and 4-Ever Kidz fashion doll brands.

Amy grew up in Northridge California in the San Fernando Valley. She was educated at UCSBs Film Studies Department, and today she has settled in Los Angeles. Amy didn’t always know she wanted to be a writer, but she has always enjoyed storytelling and making people laugh. During high school at Oakwood School in N. Hollywood, Amy focused on academic writing and creative fiction.

During college, Amy explored screenwriting, and she was awarded the 2000 Paul N. and Eleanor T. Lazarus Scholarship for potential in the field of screenwriting.  This award became a major part of Amy’s decision to turn her love of writing into a career.  Amy has always said that she will write fortune cookies if someone will pay her to do it.  In other words, for Amy, the love of writing is more important that the kind of project. She looks forward to any chance to have her voice heard by a larger audience.
